After reading Getting Picked by Seth Godin. I find that most successful people are just normal people with one key difference that anyone can attain. A lack of giving a frick. Don’t give a frick. The most successful people do not care about what others think about them and they do everything with a goal in mind, knowing they will succeed. Gary Vaynerchuk is one of the people that come to mind for me. He has literally told everyone on tiktok about his life story and how he would do things that others would never in their life do, because they think it would make them look stupid. Like living in a small apartment, eating rice and beans or cup noodles every day, and never going out and having fun. They would never want to do those things, but Gary did and after all of that he had saved enough money to start up his own business and now he is very rich and successful. Another man is David Goggins, he was fat and obese and looked terrible, but one day he decided that he wanted to go to the Marines, but he was over the weight limit and had to lose 100 pounds to get on the force. He then went on to go absolutely insane and had a training regiment that forced him to get on the bike, swim, and eat so little that it caused him to burn on average 5000 net calories per day. Now imagine how a humongous fat guy looks like in the pool trying to swim as fast as possible. You might laugh or even joke about how big he is, but Goggins didn’t care. He didn’t care about what others thought of and kept grinding. Now he is a fitness influencer and is in the best shape of his life. Honestly, I think I’m a normal person. I care about what others think and I can’t think about how many times that has made me fall behind. In basketball, I stopped trying hard during practice because I didn’t want to look like a tryhard and during school when I wouldn’t want to study because I had always believed myself to be naturally smart enough and I thought that studying would just make me look stupid, since I needed to study to pass. Both times the effects were detrimental and I became a worse player and a worse student. I think that we should stop caring about what others think and just keep our heads forward, never looking into the crowds and just to the goal because that’s what matters.
